About ANIMA Designs

I chose the name ANIMA during the first day of my first silversmithing course, and even made a very beginner ring to mark it.

ANIMA means: the true inner self that is often in touch with the unconscious / subconscious. The soul.

I want ANIMA to be that to you, your inner self coming to light.

For me, ANIMA means making jewellery that I want to wear: bold patterns, high quality and sustainability.

My formal training allowed me to learn different skills but ANIMA’s style was formed when I had to down tools while pregnant. While I couldn’t create, I spent a lot of time thinking about the jewellery I truly wanted to make and could see myself wearing, not just what is in fashion or I was seeing around me.

As a child, I spent a lot of time in Spain. I’m drawn to the simplicity of the Spanish style marked by a statement piece to catch the eye. Something that you can easily switch from day to night, or be worn to elevate jeans and a t-shirt or complement occasion-wear. In my work, I try to capture the patterns of the Moorish influence on Spanish architecture and the bold mosaic work of Josep Maria Jujol in collaboration with Antonio Gaudi.

But I couldn’t bring this vision to life with metal and gemstones alone. It was when I saw a gorgeous piece of fabric in a local charity shop that I had an idea. I loved the statement that could be made combining textiles with precious metals.

I am so proud of what I’ve let ANIMA become.

About Rozi

I am the jewellery designer, crafter and businesswoman behind ANIMA Designs.

I have a lifelong love of big, bold, statement jewellery.

This passion is what drives me to turn my ideas into beautiful handmade treasures to share with you.

I come from a family of creatives that continually inspire me and gave me the confidence to embark on this career.

I started making jewellery in 2019 when I attended a beginner’s course in Silversmithing at the London Jewellery School in Hatton Gardens. I instantly fell in love with the creative process. I bought myself some basic tools and set about learning the skills to make jewellery more beautiful, unique and of a high quality than what I could find mass-produced on the high street.

In 2022, I upped my learning and completed the Jewellers’ Academy year long Diploma in Silver Jewellery and qualified with a Distinction.

In 2023, I launched ANIMA. I sold my creations at a fair, opened an Etsy shop, made my engagement ring from recycled 18ct gold and a sustainably sourced pear ocean diamond, our wedding bands and my first engagement ring commission. I also embarked on a complete career change to pursue my creative passions and invest more time in what truly drives me.

My studio space is currently in South West London. I live with my wonderfully supportive husband, my step-daughters and our bouncy Spaniel. We also have a beautiful baby girl on the way. I built ANIMA with my family in mind so I can show them how to follow your passions, work flexibly and provide for them.

Ethos and sustainability

One of the biggest hurdles to starting my business was the potential impact that jewellery making could have on my health and the pieces on our planet.

When I became pregnant in 2023, I was forced to really think through this dilemma as many of the jewellery making techniques no longer felt safe to do. I had to completely change what and how I create.

But out of this came a unique idea. My designs could use eco-friendly and sustainably sourced fabric remnants from local suppliers, combined with recycled silver.

I now make jewellery that truly aligns with my values.
